Nagy előnye, hogy a 10-es számrendszerrel ellentétben 3-al is osztható, emiatt viszonylag könnyű benne olyan dolgokat mondani, hogy 20 percenként, vagy 60 fokos szög. Ha minden decimális lenne akkor ezek helyett olyat kéne mondani hogy 33.3333 percenként vagy 66.66666 fokos szög
